Olympic National Park and Hoh Rainforest
The Hoh Rainforest is a magical place. It is one of the largest temperate rainforests in the United States. This area gets a whopping yearly rainfall of 140-170 inches (that's 12-14 feet). During our visit we were happily hiking in the rain-- isn't that what you hope for in a rainforest?
The Sitka Spruce and Western Hemlock grow to enormous sizes (312 feet) and there are loads of Coast Douglas Firs and Maple Trees. Under this amazing canopy is an understory of ferns, mosses and lichens blanketing the ground.
