Dolphins Strand Feeding on Kiawah
This incredible feeding behavior in dolphins is found only in this area. Strand feeding is a learned
method among the dolphins in the low country of South Carolina, accomplished by the dolphins forcefully driving schools of fish
up onto the banks, then flopping up to eat the fish from the beach.
The crafty and opportunistic pelicans have learned that they can stand watch and capitalize on the fish being thrown up on shore. You will see them reaching their long
necks out to gather the fish.
This amazing stranding sequence happens in seconds, and as a photographer, I need to have the camera focused and on continuous shoot hoping for great results.
